Got myself a cat lately and spent a lot of time just watching her do her thing. She sleeps when she wants. Stretches when she needs to. Eats only when it’s worth it. Walks away the moment she’s done. No pressure. No guilt. Just presence. Just sovereignty.

It made me think — maybe we humans forgot something fundamental. Maybe instead of constantly optimizing ourselves, we should just… be a little more like cats.

I saw her refusing food. Not because she’s picky, but because she respects her body. I, on the other hand, eat out of boredom.

She won't be friendly with a person who doesn't respect her nature, because she doesn't need to be polite.

Right now, she’s chilling on the bed. Not thinking about anything. Just embracing the moment. No anxiety about tomorrow. No guilt about the past. She doesn’t chase productivity. She just exists.

And yet, somehow, she feels more whole than most people I know. Maybe because she listens — to herself, to the space, to the rhythm of being.

People may say: “Cats are just dumb.” But in truth, they aren’t. On the contrary, I think they’re wiser than most humans. They don’t see themselves as separate. They don’t live under the illusion of independence. There’s no ‘me’ versus the world — they are the world.

Maybe independence isn’t about earning more, owning more, proving more. Maybe it’s about resting when you’re tired. Saying no when it doesn’t feel right. Leaving the room without explanation.

Become a cat. Not in laziness — but in self-trust. Not in detachment — but in presence. Not in solitude — but in sovereignty.
